Colorful Saturday Challenge - August 31, 2013

Every Saturday I will choose a Color Combo from either the Annual Catalog or the current mini catalog.  I will make two cards or projects using that color combination. I then challenge you to make at least one card or project using that color combo and post a link in the comments section to either your blog post on the challenge or your pinterest photo.  A random winner will be chosen each Friday and announced on the next Saturday Challenge.  The winner will receive a goodie bag or a set of note cards.

Last week’s winner was Cynthia, click here to see her card.  Isn’t it a great card.  She does great with these challenges  Thank everyone for playing.

So let’s see what this week’s colors are?

Gumball Green, Night of Navy and Smoky Slate from the Annual Catalog page 31.  I really like this combination, gives it a real rich elegant combination.

I am preparing for my Other Holiday Card Class so I used this combination on a few of those cards.

This is the New Year's Card.  Simple but Flashy, like New Years Eve.

New Photopolymer Stamp Set

We've searched long and hard for just the right material to be able to introduce completely clear stamping. And we've found it. We're excited to announce that we now have wood-mount, clear-mount AND photopolymer stamps! The new photopolymer will be an addition to our stamp line and will appeal to all types of stampers. Our top-quality photopolymer has just enough give to create a perfectly stamped image every time and with the introduction of our firm-foam pads, let's just say they're meant for each other! Photopolymer stamps will also be unique, fun designs that will inspire you and provide more versatile options you may not see in our traditional wood- and clear-mount stamp options.
What makes them so great?
  • They're entirely transparent for perfect placement every time!
  • They are durable. The photopolymer material is designed to last.
  • Can you say sticky? (Don't worry; in a good way.) These stamps stick amazingly well to our clear blocks.
  • They're age tested. They won't yellow or cloud up over time.
  • We could go on, but we'll let you try them for yourself.
They are clearly a great choice.

Grandma's Rocking Chair - August 25, 2013 Attaching Ribbon

Sorry I missed last week, the Weekend came and went so fast, getting ready for school to start, preparing for classes all of a sudden it Tuesday and I don't know where all the days went.  My Daughter has also suggested that I do some reviews, she says tell folks what you think about certain products, I think that is a very good idea.  So every other Grandma's Rocking Chair will be a review of certain products or stamp sets.  If you would like my personal opinion or my view on certain stamp sets or Stampin' Up! products just leave a comment on what you would like my opinion on.  For today we will go with another question from one of my customers.

Question for today: How do you attach ribbon?

There are a few ways I attach ribbon.  As most of you know I like to use Glue Dots for most things and with ribbon it is the same.  Though I only use glue dots when I wrap all the way around the card or layer, the tie or bow helps hold it on.
Mini Glue Dots

If I want to just attach a bow or a piece of ribbon I use Sticky Strip, just make sure that it doesn't hit the cardstock before you have it where you want it. Sticky Strip fits perfectly on the 1/4 ribbon and even on the wider ribbon you only need one strip.  I usually only use a small piece on a bow or do both ends and a small piece in the middle on longer pieces of ribbon.  One thing you have to do is be careful when taking off the red backing as it may pull the ribbon or not stick on it and come off.  I find that if you put it on and then rub it with a bone folder it is easier to take the red strip off.
Sticky Strip
You can use Multi-Purpose Liquid Glue, but as usual I find that messy and at times it leaks through the ribbon or makes it discolored and sticky.  So I usually Stick to Glue Dots or Sticky Strip.

If you would like to ask a question of me, please leave a comment or e-mail me at marysstamping at google.com
