There's A Card Thursday - August 29, 2019 - How to design a card A Good Man

People often ask how I design a card.  Some time I get it right on the first go round but most of the time it takes several time before I get it right.

I made this card using A Good Man Stamp Set.

Well I love this card.  To get to this one though I had to go through a few other cards.  Let me show you.

I didn't find any of those really bad but they didn't go that is the one.

So what is the process I go through.  Well watch my video on how I made the final card and I will explain it.

Stamp & Camp with Mary - August 25, 2019 - Weekly update

August 18, 2019 KOA Kankakee South/Comfort Inn O’Fallon MO

Well we got up and left early.  Today was just one of those days that things did not go the way we planned but didn’t go bad.

The trip was great we went via 57 and then 70 Found E-Trailer no problem.  Got in around 2:00 PM  it was hot and very humid, ran through some rain getting here but not much.  It is nice having a Motor Home as when the rain started we just pulled into a rest area and had lunch and a nap.

Don went in to the office to see where they wanted us to park.  We were going to camp in their parking lot to save money on hotels.  Well when he got out he said it was OK to stay there but they locked the gates at 6 PM  and we would not be able to get back in if we left.  So after standing out side in the heat and humidity it didn’t take us long to decide that a hotel for 4 nights was not a bad idea.  Try packing for 4 days with just a few minutes.  I had a Live event I was already late for so I grabbed a stamp set black ink and some note cards.  Well I will tell you it was not the best grab I have made in my crafting life.

First off we had to get a hotel.  So to the internet I went.  Found a couple Choice Hotels but you really couldn’t tell much from the photos so we decided to go tour them.  Well the Cheapest and closest one was not bad but You could not get off 70 at that exit going East and it had no restaurants around it.  Well the next one in price jumped about 20 a night and was now a ways away in the opposite direction.  So we toured the hoods to see about eating and did find a few restaurant but none in walking distance.  We reserved the room at that price and went back. Well there was a poor lady screaming at the desk clerk when we got there.  Seems she thought her Debit Card was a Credit card ( A mistake I made a few time) and that she should not have been charged or had a hold on it as she was paying cash, well we all know if you use a debit card to reserve they put a hold on the money and it will not come off for a few days.  So she had no money and decided that they were not going to be staying there but now they had no money to even get gas.  She really laid into the desk clerk and it was not her fault, she kept saying but you said you would not charge my credit card and the desk clerk kept saying but it is a debit card and she said but I wanted you to use it as a credit card.  I felt sorry for them all.

Finally got into our room once we got up to the clerk it was only a 2-minute check in.

Got set up to go on line live and had really no set up but did al right until I came to the Make & Take and Demo.  I grabbed the Stamp Set and realized I had not put the labels on so I did that which is not bad, Then I realized that I had no color other than black, and that the trees and the animals were not proportioned right to make a fast card and I had nothing to mask the animals to make it look right and there were no sentiments in the set  SO we just went for it and laughed the entire time I was making it.  Don thought it was a disaster, but I don’t thin it was super bad.  Sure, showed folks I am not perfect.

We then went looking for food and once outside realized we are glad we are in a hotel.  Stopped off at the RV to pick up some things we left like my pillow and it was sweltering in the place.  Ate at Culver’s and then headed to the hotel.  Spending the night watching TV and catching up on Social Media.

August 19th Monday Comfort Inn O’Fallon MO

Went to the e-trailer got stuff out of the trailer that we thought we might need.  They came out and said that they would take good care of the vehicle and the would be done on Thursday.  We had to wait for a while for Enterprise to come pick us up.  They did and we got to the Enterprise place was it hopping we waited a bit, not bad.  We had ordered a Compact car and they decided to give us a Nissan Truck  This was great, but we had nothing to haul with it.  Don was excited as he had been wanting to test drive one of these.  It is small but not to small.  It was fun to drie.

Went back to the hotel and I called my girl friend that we are going to be visiting on Tuesday.  We both took a nap and then went out to have a late lunch early dinner and do some grocery shopping.  Ate at a Mexican restaurant which was OK  not the best but not the worse.

The internet in the hotel is great so we both watched movies, Netflix, Acorn etc.  Was a nice calm day.

Don got us tour tickets to Anheuser Busch brewery for Tuesday Morning.  I think that will be fun.  Then we will go to Ruth and Dan’s for supper.

August 20th Tuesday Comfort Inn O’Fallon MO

Well got up and headed downtown for the Brewery Tour.  It was a great tour though I had a hard time hearing our tour guide, she did not project very well but we could go up and ask her questions which was nice.

We had a good time.  Was amazing to see all the things it takes to make and bottle a beer.  We would go into a cold place and freeze step out and be hot then a cold place outside hot and then a real hot place.  Beautiful Architecture and I loved the horses not many there but nice looking.

It was fun we then went back to the hotel and had a nap.  Went to Ruth and Dan’s house for supper.  Ruth made Lasagna and we sat and talked about 2 hours.  We had went to grade school and high school together and it was so good to just catch up, it has been years to get together.  It was like we had not been apart so many years.  I suppose Ruth and I could have sat and talked all night but Don wanted to go to the hotel and I am sure that Dan also wanted some time away from the 2 of us talking so much.

Good to have great old friends.

August 21, 2019. Wednesday  Comfort Inn O’Fallon MO

Another day of adventure.  Today we went down to the Arch in St. Louis, when I was in the park service it was called Jefferson National Expansion Monument, now it is the Gateway Arch.  I visited the Deputy Superintendent I worked with him at LBJ  his name is Frank Mares and it was so good to see him.  I only had a little time as our tour was in 20 minutes. It was good catching up with him and it was good to see friends from the past.  I wish I had more time to visit.
Loved our visit to Arch. I had been there once before and this was just as good.

We went back to the hotel for a nap and to watch more Netflix and then went to Olive Garden for supper.  Nice to have Soup & Salad.  Tomorrow we pick up Ms Patty and Boy Blue.

August 22, 2019 Lazy Day Campground Danville MO.

Checked out of the hotel and on our way to kill time at the mall.  They said we could pick up the vehicles at 4 PM.  As we turned into the Mall they called and said they were ready and we could pick them up.  So before noon we had our babies back.
I was really impressed with their service.  It was neat to have one of their video guys help us with the vehicles.  It was fun, he even let me ask questions even though Don cringed a few times.  A lot to remember but it will be great to ride in the same car.

After we dropped the rental off we went to the campground which was about 40 miles away.  Lazy Days RV Resort in Danville MO.  This is a really nice campground.  All gravel pads large sites full hook ups and great decorations.  The folks are really nice.  We pulled in and Nancy Lined us up but it was a little down in front and her husband came back and wanted to know if we were all right as it was not level and we said we had to take the Jeep off and we would just back up or use our levelers.  They were really concerned and that was nice.  Never been into a campground where anyone thought about us being level.   I love how the laundry room and bathrooms were decorated so cute.  They have wifi and did say that as the day went on it would not be as good as folks come in.  Was nice for them to tell us.

August 23, 2019 Friday, Topeka Capital City KOA

Was not really as far as we thought it was today.  Saw a great camper on the road.

It was nice to be in the same vehicle as Don.  Got into the campground and we hit the Trifecta.  Highway, Trains and Airplanes.  But it was a nice campground. Internet not bad.  We went and found a Walmart and then played some Corn Hole.  The campground had a salt pool, corn hole. Game room with ping pong, foose ball, library and TV room.  I really like it.  Other than the noise and you had to come down a gravel road it was a very nice park.

Not super big, They had a few little ponds and a nice place to walk.

August 24, 2019 KOA Goodland KS.

This was a long day but we did get an hour before we came to campground.
Once we got into the campground we got a call from Charlie in the campground we stayed at last night the Topeka KOA.  Seems that someone found a set of Jeep keys in our campsite.  Don lost his.  Glad they got them back as they also had our Condo keys on them.

We had stayed at this KOA before it is one of the smaller ones we have stayed at.  Tornado watch here and walked around to find the shelter.  I do like this campground, it is a great place to stay a night or two and just relax.  The internet is not the best but not bad at all.

Was a very good week.  Now we will be settling into Cheyenne for a month to get our storage taken care of.
