I told you when I started I would review good things that I liked and also things I didn't like. This is one of the things I really don't like.
Stampin' Up! changed their formula for the Basic Black ink over a year ago, same time that they changed their stamp pads to the foam pads.
Almost immediately they noticed a problem that on Whisper White and Very Vanilla the ink would not dry. It would smear, then they noticed it would not dry at all on Whisper White and Very Vanilla. It had something to do with the make up of the new ink and also the smoothness of the Cardstock. They have been trying for over a year to reconfigure the ink so it would work and it still doesn't seem to be better. What is also as bad is that since they changed the formula of the ink you can not use the new re-inker on the old pad or the old re-inker on the new pad. I tried washing out the new pad and putting the old re-inker in and it dried up within a month. So I just ordered a new pad and re-inker and we will see if there is any change.
So what do we do and how to use it. Well for Whisper White and Very Vanilla you can stamp with Staz-on if you need black, I myself use Early Espresso or Chocolate Chip. You can use the Basic Black on any other colors of Stampin' Up! Cardstock with no problems. I hope they are able to fix it but if not there are still ways to get a black on Whisper White and Very Vanilla.
For now I would
1. Use the Staz-on for Whisper White and Very Vanilla
2. Use the Basic Black for Other Cardstocks
3. Never put old Basic Black Re-inker in the new Basic Black Pad.
Have fun Stamping
