Well I used Stencils at one time. Some were the metal stencils that you dry embossed with and also could use with sponging. I also had painting stencils for my painting and used them sometimes for stamping, they were the plastic ones, kind of flimsy. I got rid of all my stencils just after I got my Big Shot, who needed stencils to dry emboss with the Big Shot and the embossing folders.
I was intrigued by the Decorative Masks as the description in the catalog states Spritzing, Sponging, Tracing, and Embossing. So was it a metal one or plastic. For $2.95 I got both of them, 4 Masks in total. Well I got them and they are plastic, thicker than the ones I had before and I love them. They are not too thick to distort the image. So I had to use them, there will be a Tips & Techniques Tuesday on these soon.
First off I spritzed them. They are easily washed off and the plastic is not as flimsy so you don't have to worry about tearing or folding it. This was Real Red and Alcohol.
Then I wanted to see how it went with sponging so using the stars I sponged on Night of Navy. Takes a little more to wash off the Craft Ink.
I really like these masks and at a price the are a great deal.

I really hope that Stampin' Up! makes more of these available.
Have fun with them and enjoy.
