June 9th, Madison KOA
Went to mass at St Olaf’s Church. Was a very nice parish. Not as friendly as some but they were nice.
Came back and did a few things around the trailer before we
headed out to Kayla’s. Don wanted to see
if County Road V met up with highway 12.
So we took a little longer drive than we would have. To answer the Question no it does not at
least not as far as we went. I was thinking we were getting close to MN. Finally got to Kayla’s after a short stop at
Target. Went to play Putt Putt Golf at
Vitense Golfland. They had 2 outdoor 18
hole courses and a inside course and then a real driving range. It was fun.
The course was very different and we had a good time. I was last and Kayla was first Oh well. It was fun.
We then went for Pizza and had a good woodfire pizza.
Headed back to Kayla’s apartment and said good bye. We should be back maybe in August to see here
after we send Meigan to Australia. Came
back to the KOA and walked up to the Cheese Store and got some cheese. They had a ton of different cheese and we got
some Cranberry Cheese, Don promises this time not to leave it out for the
Raccoons.
Came back and got things started to pack up. I was trying to get my internet work done but
now the internet is horrible. Before it
was OK but now it I can’t go anywhere.
Don says it is OK for him but I think he is on the Data not the
internet.
As I am sitting here it is starting to rain hopefully not
for to long.
June 10th Madison KOA and Christmas Mountain Village
Campground Wisconsin Dells
Today is a move day.
I drove the RV – we have to get it a name. This was the first time I really drove it on
the Freeway and with any wind. It was a
little windy and the trucks were all passing me and pushing me around. We finally made it to the campground. A really nice place. It was not to far from the KOA but it was far
enough. Went into the Walmart to stock
up on things The resort has a golf
course and a ski hill so it has all seasons covered. Really nice pool and it has what they call
Wilderness Sites – where tenters can go, no hook ups. They have cabins, houses, condos, cabins to
camp in, permanent camping spots and it looks like seasonal camp spots. It is run by Choice Hotels.
We walked around and looked at everything. Had dinner and just vegged out.
June 11th Christmas Mountain Village Campground
Well today we started to spray the furniture with Febreze
Fabric Smell eliminator or what ever.
Did all the pads for the table used almost a full bottle. It does smell better but we have to do
more. Went into Walmart and Home Depot
and Kohls to look for things. Don bought
some shorts and we got some more storage items. They didn’t have the shelves we
were looking for. Then we went downtown
and it was fun.
We walked around and it
started to rain. So stopped into the
Chocolate and Fudge shop there goes any hope of losing the pounds. We got some chocolate and I got a Chocolate
covered Dill pickle was not bad. Thought he chocolate didn’t stay on the
pickle after the first bite and so you had to bite the pickle the a bite of
chocolate. It would have been cheaper to
just eat a chocolate bar and pickle.
Started raining and lasted all night.
June 12th Christmas Mountain Village.
Still raining when we woke up and rained most of the day so
didn’t do much. I tried to get some of
my work done but the ATT was really slow and it was hard. WE also had a notice we went over our
Verizon so it was frustrating. Couldn’t clean as it was to wet for anything
to dry. Meigan is trying to do her Visa
so she called a few times and we talked her through it.
Rain finally got to us so we thought we would go in and see
if we could find a Verizon Store and see if we can get more data as it does not
seem we can raise it from 12 to 20 anymore.
Looks like for the same price we can all the data we want but I am sure
it is like ATT and it throttles it down.
So went in and found a third party store and talked to Courtney who said
it would not be any more than we pay now and we could get a MIFI which would be
like another line which would give us 15 G of a hotspot and with my 15 gigs of
hotspot that would be 30 G of hotspot I
ask well can’t I use Don’s phone for the same thing she said yes only problem Don can not do a hotspot with
his phone it is to old. So our phone
phobia person came out with a new phone we have a new plan with unlimited data
and 30 Gs of Hotspot between Don and I.
Ate at a fairly decent Mexican restaurant and made it home for more
rain.
June 13th Christmas Mountain and JW Wells State Park.
Well at least it stopped raining. Headed out to go to Menominee and my old park
JW Wells State Park. I drove the truck
and Don the trailer and we got separated.
Finally met up at Mickey Lu’s for Hamburgers.
Got into JW Wells State Park and some things haven’t changed
like the Ranger Fee Station but somethings have changed they have walking
paths, new bathhouse, playgrounds it looks more modern. They have more campsites. The lake is really high, looks like it could
over take some sites. Our site has a
huge water feature on it and looks like someone got stuck in it. They are predicating more rain for this
weekend. I hope to be able to see some
of my friends this weekend.
Meigan got word that she got into a dorm for Australia and
we are all happy. She also got her VISA
in and now the wait.
June 14th J.W. Wells State Park.
Woke up to a heavy rain.
We had a few things we wanted to do and my job was to see if our 529
would wire money to Australia and no they don’t. So we got a check to go to Meigan and she
will have to front the 1,000 until the check gets there.
Don started to spray the couch which still stinks. Well he got the couch turn over to spray the
bottom and one side broke off. Not a
happy camper. Then after just spraying
the bottom the CO dictator goes off in the idle of my phone call. Well we know it works. We opened all the windows and turned on the
fans and got the smell out and the beeping off.
Our campsite is surround with a lake so much rain.
Headed out to the Railhouse for fish fry with Mary
Falkenberg. Was so good to see friends
from High School, we sat for a while and caught up on things. Don was with us so we didn’t talk all night
long.
I have to say I am really disappointed in the Hotspot with
Verizon. So slow and I can’t even upload
a good photo fast. So I don’t know if
this will be working for me.
We are looking to head to the Ship Launch in the morning,
that will be a treat. Though at 11:00 PM
it is still raining heavily.
June 15th 2019 JW Wells State Park Cedar River MI
Got up early and headed to Menominee, Marinette Marine is
launching one of their ships the USS Minneapolis and St Paul. Thought it would be really busy but we got
there about 1 45 minute before the launch was scheduled and no one So drove around awhile and then walked up on
the interstate bridge and waited and waited.
My friend Wendy Beland came in from Peshtigo to watch with us. It was great, got to catch up with her and
spend some time. Yes we had to spend
some time as 10 came and went and still nothing someone said it maybe closer to
10:45 or 11:15. Got some good shots of
the ship and some other watchers.
Everyone said they would sound a horn and then it would go
it would be fast. We waited and I wanted
to take a video of it. Well looked away
for a second and their it went and I couldn’t turn my camera on fast
enough. Got a few photos after but no
video.
We then went over to our favorite local winery the Forgotten
Fire Winery to get some Cranberry Wine and then saw a car show on our way
back. Had to stop and look at the cars
old and new. They had a jeep there (the car dealership not the show) but it was
pretty trashed, did test drive a Ford Eclipse which was nice but I just don’t
know yet. If we were in Cheyenne and it
was the Ford or still driving the truck we would have the Ford.
Then went over to the cemetery for my visit to Mom & Dad
and now we added Aunt Honey & Uncle Warren.
Headed back to JW Wells. Was a
beautiful evening. Lake is still there
and the kids were playing in it. Was fun
to watch them.
Was a great week.
Head back down to see Meigan next week and check out some Real Estate.
Hope you all are well
