Today in Tips & Techniques Tuesday I want to show you the new Stampin' Up! blending brushes and catch you up on or Big Bend Adventures since last week.
Let's start with the Camping of the Stamp & Camp with Mary.
We worked at the Persimmon Gap Visitor Center Mon - Wed. Started getting cool on Wednesday and had very few people show up. On Thursday we got to explore.
Wednesday saw a heavy fog set in we woke up to the smell of rain in the desert, but we did not hear any rain all night. The smell of rain in the desert is very distinct, creosote mixed with a little sage, it is a great smell and one you will never forget. Don checked the weather and it said 93% humidity, not in the desert, looked out the window and we were surrounded by fog a thick fog at 7AM. By the time we took our morning walk some of it had cleared off but it stayed in the hills and down by Panther Junction for a bit. This afternoon was clear and beautiful ,a little cooler than the past few days. Sunday is suppose to be a low of 12 so need our extra blankets and long johns, though the high is going to be in the 40s and 50s,then climb back up. Just a few photos from our morning walk.

Thursday was our IVS day, a day where we can go explore, hike, drive etc. It was again a foggy and cold day at Persimmon Gap morning. The wind was still blowing all night and all day, not as bad as WY but still enough to rock the trailer. Don and I had a few items to take care of at Headquarters Panther Junction, I had to get my ID card and Don had to check out the Library. Before we left Maintenance was here to look at our sewer problem. It is suppose to flow down ours is an uphill battle. So they took photos etc and said they would see what they could do. Off we went to Panther Junction then to Rio Grand Village. Panther Junction was 44 out and overcast, but not foggy. Still a Stiff Breeze.
Got down to Rio Grande Village sun was shining and it was 61, though it was still windy. We ate lunch at Daniels ranch though inside the car not at the picnic tables, everyone including us had their heavy jackets on, to be use to the desert weather again.
Stopped at the Rio Grand Village Store, Campground, then headed to Boquillas Canyon. In the distance saw Boquillas Mexico and wish we could go over for a Taco or two. The canyon was really busy since it was about the only place that was sunny in the park.
Headed back to Persimmon Gap and who showed up Maintenance and fixed our sewer so it was a great day. We thank them for doing it the same day.
Next few days are supposed to be cold so we got our heated hose out, heat taped the water line and closed off the front cab of the RV, hoping to make it a little warmer in here, next 4 nights suppose to be below freezing with Saturday not getting above 24 and Sunday's low 8. Friday we headed to Study Butte to check out the grocery store there, but think the other 2 days off we will be drinking tea and snuggling in bed. Hope you enjoy some of the photos I took today.

Heading back to Persimmon Gap and overcast and fog.
Friday was a day off so wanted to go check out another grocery store.
Woke up with a start at 2 AM. The wind had stopped, eerily quiet. Strange what you notice if it is not there anymore. Went back to sleep all cozy, it seems warmer when the wind is not blowing. Got up to heavy fog again and it was 34 not really bad, but not 50s. Had a zoom meeting with friends and the wind started to kick up. Don and I want to go check out the grocery store at Study Butte, this is on the other entrance to the park. 54 mies from us but it takes just as long to get there as you are going through the park at 45MPH instead of 90 miles to Alpine but you can go 70 MPH. We still wanted to check it out.
Got down to Panther Junction the sun was peeking out and it was 48, no fog and looked like we would be in sun soon. it was a beautiful drive, I love the west side of the park. 2 years ago we thought there was an ACE hardware in Study Butte but we could not find it. I thought it was with the grocery story and when we went in it was part hardware and groceries. 40 years ago Study Butte was not this big it had no grocery store.
The drive back was in sun and 61 it was beautiful. We did see a coyote on the road coming in from Panther Junction, very brave and not scared of the car, will have to report him so he doesn't get hurt. We got back to Persimmon Gap and then 40, windy, and overcast. The trailer is rocking and rolling. Don rigger up the second electric heater so it is not bad in the RV, though we can feel where it is not sealed well.
We will probably not go out for the next couple of days as there is a winter weather advisory, cold and possible snow. Enjoy the photos from today.
Yup looks like some fog or clouds at Panther Junction when we are leaving
Getting closer and it appears to be clearing up.
Look close, you can see a line of Yurts on the ridge close to Study Butte,
A closer look a a couple of the Yurts,
A first look at Study Butte, RV parks restaurantes, river and hiking trips. Gotten a little bigger than 40 years ago.
The Study Butte Grocery store.
Yup see that cloud bank that is where we are heading back home.
Coyote in the road. We honked and got him to run, it is dangerous for them to get accustomed to the road and cars.
Valentines Day we worked, it was cold, windy and started to snow. At night the snow and wind picked up. Don had to shovel inside the RV, we developed a leak in the corner of one of our slides in the RV, he shoveled with a spatula, I am sorry I didn't get photos of that. We covered the windows and most of the openings we could low was suppose to be 4 degrees, seems like the Persimmon Gap weather station froze up so it read 32 for the last 24 hours, so we may never know how cold it actually got.
This morning as we ventured out the wind had died down and we got about an inch of snow, not a lot but a nice dusting. The Road to the Chisos Basin is closed and the Ross Maxwell they advise no travel, snow and ice.
As we were heading out to work we had a couple of visitors to the duplex that the fee Rangers live in, two Javelinas. They were staying close to the building I am sure they were trying to stay warm.
This is suppose to start to clear out tomorrow and back in the 70s soon. Enjoy my snow photos.
Ice Before the snow. Tree outside the visitor center.
The photo doesn't do this ice cactus justice. I love that the spines are froze the really looked cool.
This was Sunday as we left the Visitor Center, just starting to snow.

Let's get to the Tips & Techniques portion.
Today I want to show you the new Stampin' Up! Blender Brushes
I have used blending brushes before but they were not like these. The ones I had were more spongy like our sponge daubers these are actual brushes.
Some folks think you need one for each color but you don't I have one for the major colors, Red, Blue, Green, Yellows and Browns. These clean up really nice so you don't have to worry about color transferring, just make sure when you run it over a scrap paper no color is still coming off and you are good to go.
I hope you enjoyed the video and the catch up with our camping.
I would hope that you would do your Stampin" Up! shopping with me, just click here. For Orders under

I know it has been awhile since you have heard from me. I am really sorry. On Jan 3 I slipped on some ice and broke my right wrist. On the 13th I had surgery put a plate some screws and a temporary rod in. It is hard for me to do a lot of things, like - cut meat, write, tie my shoes, anything that I have to use 2 hands or my right hand. My husband has been great and has been helping me a lot, dressing me, feeding me, showering and washing my hair.
What is also thrown in the mix is we left on Jan 18 for Big Bend National Park and our 3 months of volunteering. I was still in the cast after surgery and am now dealing with a totally different Doctor here. Friday I got my cast off, still healing and the rod is still in may be another 4 - 6 weeks before that can come out.
Stamping is hard and I have been doing someone handed stamping. Here are a few of my one handed efforts.
I Love card kits. Don has been helping me by doing my Stampin' Cut & Emboss machine so I do have a few more I have done, just don't have the photos done.
I want to also show you were we are.
It is hard to type with one hand so I may be spotty on doing my blog posts but will try to do at least one a week for now.
