Let's make a Paper Ball Ornament today on Tips & Technique Tuesday Also Information on a great sale.

Need a quick easy gift for those folks you forgot about, the mail person, the store clerk your next door neighbor?  The next couple of Tips & Techniques I have a few gifts you can make for just that right person.  Today we are making an ornament that you can put in some treats, money or just good wishes.

I think these are just the great thing to make.  You can make them from Designer Series Paper, Card Stock, Foil Sheets or a little from all of them.

Let's take a look at how easy these are to make.

Here are some general instructions.

Supplies: Stamp Set – You can use any stamp set but mainly small sayings are good. Ink – If you do stamp use coordinating ink.  Card Stock – Coordinating Card Stock 6 ¼ x 10 ½ TIP: You may also use a piece of Designer Series Paper to make the base ornament.

Designer Series Paper – If you would like to use cardstock and decorate the ball you will need 18 1 x 1 pieces of coordinating designer series paper.  TIP I usually pick this out first.  Accessories: simply scored tool, Paper Trimmer, adhesive of your choice strong Stamping mat, ruler.

Instructions:

  1.  With the Simply Scored Tool.  Score the base 10 ½ x 6 ¼ with the 10 ½ at the top score at 1 ¼, 2 ½, 3 ¾, 5, 6 ¼, 7 ½, 8 ¾ and 10
  2. Turn the base so the 6 ¼ is at the top and score at 1 ¼, 2 ½, 3 ¾, and 5.
  3. Turn the base again so the 10 ½ is at top and the ½ tab is on the right. Score only down to the first score line at 5/8, 3 1/8, 5 5/8, 8 1/8.
  4. Now flip it over so that the ½ is still on the right side and again score down to the first cross score line at 5/8, 3 1/8, 5 5/8 and 8 1/8.
  5. This is the tough part. Take your Stamp Mat and Ruler at the 1 space score you will score down into the second row.  From the Score line to each of the 2 bottom corners forming an upside down Y. So you will have 4 Ys on each side directly across from one another.
  6. Fold all the score lines.
  7. Cut off the 2 end ½ flaps and all the squares that have the short score in them, leaving the Top of the Y.
  8. Fold all the score lines
  9. Decorate the squares if you want with 1 x 1 “ squares of DSP or other things.
  10. Decide which end is top and which is bottom
  11. On the Bottom you will fold the 4 tabs over each other start with one then do the opposite tab start with the other and then the last one.  You will adhere these like that with strong adhesive.  Liquid glue is the best especially if you want to put candy or something in it.
  12. Punch holes in the middle of each top tab.  You will thread the ribbon through these in the same order you did the bottom.  Opposites first then the third and the fourth.
